Life Lately

Anacortes-Washington
Washington Park, Anacortes Washington
You can almost see my house from here off in the left hand corner, between the trees.

I think weekends are good for the soul. Of course, I also think a 3 day weekend would be even better for the soul. But, I suppose that is a fantasy I'm going to have to part with at some point. Seriously though, think of all the things you could do with an extra day on the weekend! There never seems to be enough time to get everything done.

Ferry terminal heading to Vashon from West Seattle

This weekend I got to spend time with a friend that I haven't seen in years and said goodbye to another as she packs up and moves across the country. Since moving back to Washington, I haven't had a whole lot of time for meeting up with friends. Most of them live a couple hours south, closer to the big city and I've been so busy. So much busier than I thought I would be.

Loving my scarf from "Jane", she is so talented!

I'm a scheduling addict but I've found myself over scheduled since the moment I got here. I'm learning there is only so much I can do, which I really don't like coming to terms with because there is so much more I want to do.

I work both in an office and also on blog designs in off hours, I take the dogs out on walks or to the park daily, I try to make it to the gym 3 times a week, I try to "run" 3 times a week, I want to spend time blogging which means recipe creation, coming up with crafts, taking quality pictures, editing, etc., I want to learn to use my new fancy camera better, I want to spend more time on this calligraphy class, I want to get out and meet new people, I want to spend time with friends, I want to finally read the ever growing list of books on my Kindle and just about a million other things. What I want is a good balance between work, social, personal, and active life. But, finding that balance has been a real challenge.

I feel like there is only so much of me to go around and I'm feeling stretched pretty thin.

You need to close down shop for a few days and take some time to relax! You more than deserve it.

You might not live in Hawaii anymore, but that definitely looks like paradise to me ;)

Staying busy is a great way for deployments to fly by. But you should relax a bit, drink some wine.

It's good to stay busy but also a must to relax. You deserve it. :)

It is SUPER hard to find a good balance! I don't know how people with kids even manage. I can barely take care of myself most of the time! lol

I haven't been blogging lately because I'm so busy. I just said today that weekends should be 5 days and the work week should be 2. :-p

I wonder if this is a struggle for everyone in their 20's... I don't even have a job and I struggle with all of the things I "need" to get done (I mean, who's going to share buzzfeed articles with all of my friends if I don't?!). Soak the weekends in and enjoy the hustle and bustle during the week knowing it's getting you closer to homecoming, friend!

I completely agree with you that we all need 3 day weekends in order to get everything done. There's so many things I want to do, too, but always find that I'm stretched way too thin. It would be nice to not always feel like I'm playing catch up or just getting by. Hang in there and hopefully things will start to slow down:)

Gorgeous photos! What a beautiful place to live. I totally understand what you mean by finding a good balance. It's definitely a very difficult task. While I don't work, I parent 3 children & trying to be a good enough wife, mother, daughter, friend and then find time for myself. Well, it seems impossible!

I tend to over-schedule too :(
